Nika Zupanc
Slovenian designer who "works and dreams in Ljubljana".
Effortlessly and easily, she pushes the boundaries of contemporary design. She constantly
questions new values with her extremely interesting “emotional approach”. Contemporary
design must be innovative and functional, but that alone is not enough. Nika shapes
things by lending them an emotional value. Her signature is evident in very feminine
elements, even clichés, in a way which is almost masculine. Slightly ironically and with
a hint of humor, she plays around with mediocrity, boredom, relationships between men

BoRoot is a lamp that offers high functionality with simple aesthetics. Formally, it was
developed from the Root collection in order to provide a different lighting experience.
The lamp body has a movable lightshade whose lifting and lowering changes the width of
the light beam. The bulb is invisible and the light is focused on the illuminated
surface. BoRoot functions well as a single lighting fixture and as a multiple piece
composition.
Root is a lamp with simple lines created during the conceptual interior design phase of
the Green Pavilion_Restaurant, the new student canteen on the campus of the Forestry and
Agricultural Faculties in Zagreb. It was inspired by Maksimir Park, and it reinterprets
the shape of tree roots. Although designed for a specific project, the Roots’ purified
lines allow its applications in different spaces, and interesting spatial installations
can be created by combining multiple pieces. A movable rosette allows circular motion of
Root around the axis to provide an even greater possibility for spatial ad functional
combinations.
